Here’s our list of the top 5 beaches in India for the 2015 travel season. With a vast coastline, India is home to many beautiful beaches so we’ve narrowed down to only five based on a number of criteria, such as type and softness of the sand, clarity , color & average temperature of the ocean water, beach vegetation, intensity of beach use [ crowds, noise], beach accessibility, facilities, safety and several other factors.
1. Radhanagar Beach, Havelock, Andaman Islands
Located on Havelock , a small island in the Andaman Island archipelago, Radhanagar Beach is a simply stunning , thanks to a combination of several features ~the fine white sand, the azure blue water, jungle vegetation close to the beach, mountain landscape backdrops and hey, how about seeing an elephant stroll down the beach. Simple incomparable.
2. Agonda Beach, Goa
Located in the Canacona region of South Goa, this beach still remains free of the crowds that one would find at most other beaches in Goa. Agonda beach has a nice wide beach with fine sand, and though not ideal for swimming, is perfect for relaxing or taking a stroll along the beach undisturbed. Palolem is just a 15 minute drive away for those looking for some night life or basic shopping facilities.
3. Varkala Beach, Kerala
Located just over 50kms north of Kerala’s capital city , Trivandrum, Varkala Beach is blessed with golden sand and is set against scenic cliffs overlooking the beach – infact the long cliff top with its stunning views is a popular hangout for tourists visiting this beach. Varkala also carries spiritual significance as it is a site of Hindu ritual and worship.

4. Benaulim Beach, Goa
If a nice stretch of large, expansive and largely empty beach sounds like your cup of tea, then this is the beach you should visit. Benaulim beach is located south of Colva.

5. Mandrem Beach, Goa
Probably one of the less known beaches in Goa and certainly so far a best kept secret – Mandrem Beach is beautiful , tranquil and so relaxed that you’re quite likely to encounter fellow sunbathers engrossed in meditation and yoga.
