Also known as Pangong Tso, Tibetan for ”enchanted lake”, is a high altitude, ‘endorheic’ lake in Ladakh, northern India, close to the border with China.
The main attraction of the lake is its amazing scenic beauty, with the deep blue cobalt waters of the lake set against the ruggedly beautiful mountain ranges of Ladakh in the background, the landscapes are simply awe inspiring. Nature at its purest best.
Part of the lake is infact in disputed territory, so this is surely a destination for the bold, intrepid traveller, though the area is generally peaceful for many years now.
The reward of a visit here is however incomparable, which is why it figures so high on our list.
